Care for a Shelter Animal with Special Needs
Fund a week’s care for an animal in a special-needs shelter.
We love reading your stories of rescued animals – animals whose courageous, cheerful spirits inspire us. So many of your stories are about animals overcoming adversity: injury, illness, abuse. These are the stories that move us most; these are the animals that need a little extra from us to thrive as they were always meant to.
A few animal shelters around the United States take in animals with special needs. Their residents include dogs who need wheeled harnesses in order to move around, blind horses, cats with feline leukemia, and so many others. The beautiful thing about animals with special needs is that they do not know they are disabled. With some extra attention and, in some cases, thoughtful devices, they can live as fully as any other animal.
You can help! Just $15.00 covers one week’s care for an animal with special needs. Expenses might include medications for diabetes, feline leukemia, and other illnesses; orthopedic gear; even veterinary surgery.
